Tussilago 2017

It almost became a tradition: take photos of the first local spring flower and share them in my blog. And as every year the winner is tussilago. These samples I photographed yesterday in Skelleftehamn.

What spring flowers blossom at your place?

KROKANTEN!

Marshmarygolds, they are the ones I am waiting for every year. Bright sunny dots in the brown meadows. And Tussilago, too.

The marsh-marygold has still to wait, it’s too early for it.

I was in southern Switzerland a week ago. We had horse chestnuts and lilacs in full bloom, Apple blossom, Azaleas,Rhododendrons, japanese cherry, lots of tulips,, now, a week later it is very much the same in southern Germany. Even the first (unopened) rose buds have formed. Mind you, we had a very warm spell, with almost a week around 20°

    Hej Niko,

that’s an impressive list! I’ll be in Freiburg in ten days and will take the opportunity to look at the spring (or almost summer) flowers by myself.

Thats great, will you be staying long? Hope it gets a bit warmer again for you, now it is 10° and windy, very uncomfortable, although this would probably be very mild for Skelleftehamn at the moment!

I’ll stay for round about 10 days. We got cold but sunny weather the Easter Days, but even though the temperatures are hardly above zero the sun provides a lot of warmth. Anyway I guess that weather will be much warmer in Freiburg and hopefully not too rainy.

That sounds good. If you have time to spare and it fits in with you, it would be great to perhaps have lunch in town together. Just send me an email. And if not, I already wish you a great time in lovely Freiburg and surroundings.
